Every review starts with the score and one line you can act on.
You Can See Everything
One of the most well-shot, interesting documentaries I've ever seen, and one of my top 3 movies of the year. 5 out of 5.
Whalefall
The most intense, claustrophobic movie I've seen in quite some time, and the scariest I've seen in theaters this October. 3.5 out of 5.
Primetime
My top pick of the week: Robert Pattinson nails Chris Hansen in the most A24 of A24 movies I've seen in a while. 4 out of 5.
Heart of the Beast
A heartwarming but very sad story about a man and his military dog. Beautifully shot and well acted, but a hard watch. 3.5 out of 5.
Forgotten Island
The animation style alone earns Forgotten Island a 3 out of 5. It looks really good, but the story has a lot of conveniences.
Practical Magic 2
I enjoyed Practical Magic 2 a little more than the original, but you absolutely need to see the first one first. 3 out of 5.
The Dog Stars
A fantastically acted post-apocalyptic film that looks great, but you have to suspend your disbelief with the story. 3.5 out of 5.
Mutiny
Mutiny is a fun time, and the best Jason Statham movie I've seen since The Beekeeper. Great action and unique kills. 3.5 out of 5.
One Night Only
One Night Only has some funny moments, but it just didn't live up to the hype for me. Overall, very bland. 2 out of 5.
The End of Oak Street
The End of Oak Street doesn't always know what it wants to be, but it's super entertaining and beautifully made. 4 out of 5.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Excellent casting, great visuals and Tom Holland at the peak of his game as Spider-Man. A heavier, more Marvel take. 4 out of 5.
The Dink
The Dink is hilarious: a pickleball comedy with great improv that feels like the early-2000s comedies. 3.5 out of 5.
